16 CFR 1615/1616 is a flame retardant standard for children's pajamas, requiring pajamas to have a certain fire performance. 16 CFR 1615 is suitable for children's pajamas, size 0 ~ 6X, 16 CFR 1616 is suitable for children's pajamas, size 7 ~ 14.

Flammability Test Apparatus
M017A-1 Vertical Flammability Chamber is to test the flammability resistance performance for woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, coated products, laminated products and other vertical direction of the combustion performance measurement. It is available on UTSTESTER official website.
Flammability Class
The flammability resistant requirements of plain cloth and wool cloth are divided into: 1, 2, 3 levels.
Grade 1 is normal flame retardant:
Cloth 3.5s or more than 3.5s flame spread time; Raise the wool cloth over 7s when the flame spreads.
Grade 2 is medium flame retardant:
Mainly for the wool cloth, the flame spread time between 4 ~ 7s.
Grade 3 is for burning fast and fiercely:
Cloth flame spread less than 3.5s; Fleece flame spread less than 4s.
Grade 3 raw materials are banned from the United States.
The above standard also applies to hats, gloves, socks and lining. When the lining cloth is used as a garment lining, no inspection is required; For other uses, it must be tested like any other fiber and then graded.
Performance detection phase
There are three stages to test the burning performance of children's pajamas: fabric mass production stage, garment proofing stage and garment mass production stage. The fabric mass production phase requires 5000 yards of fabric (FPU) as a batch to be sampled and tested. The garment proofing stage requires that the flammability of different types of seams and decorations be evaluated before the garment is mass-produced. In the garment mass production stage, 6000 pieces (sets) of garment finished products (Gpus) are required as a batch to be sampled for testing.
Label requirements
(1) Maintain labels. All types of children's pajamas should be labeled for durability and comply with the rules and regulations issued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Note on the label that certain reagents or treatments may reduce flame retardancy.
(2) Annotation method:
When the product is sold in a package where the label on the product is not easily visible to the buyer, the required information must be marked prominently, conspicuously and clearly on the package;
If precautions affecting flame retardancy need to be marked on the reverse side of a permanent label, they should be displayed by a prominent, eye-catching statement such as "precautions on the reverse side of the label" so that consumers can see them.
