What are the testing standards for towel products?

As a household textile, the quality of towel products should first meet the requirements of national compulsory standard GB 18401-2010 "National Technical Specification for Basic Safety of Textiles", including formaldehyde content, pH value, aromatic amine dyes that can decompose carcinogenic, odor and color fastness.

In addition, towel products mainly according to the national standard GB/T 22864-2009 "Towel" quality assessment, the standard is applicable to all kinds of woven towel products with textile fiber as raw materials, other towel products can refer to the implementation.

In view of antibacterial towels, untwisted towels, microfiber towels and other products on the market, the industry has issued FZ/T 62015-2009 Antibacterial Towels, FZ/T 62016-2009 Untwisted Towels, FZ/T 62033 -- 2016 Microfiber towels and other standards. The intrinsic quality mainly evaluates weight deviation rate, fiber content deviation, breaking strength, water absorption, depilation rate and color fastness.

International towel standards include ASTM D5433-2012 "Standard Performance Specification for Towel Products of Public Institutions and Household Use", BS EN14697-2005 "Textile towels and towel fabric - Specification and Test Method", etc.

What problems should be paid attention to in detection?

Towel testing items are relatively few and basically routine testing items, and the test is also easy to operate, but the following items need to be noted:

1. Breaking strength:

The breaking strength of towels is tested according to GB/T 3923.1-2013 "Textile Fabric tensile properties part 1: Determination of breaking strength and elongation at break (Strip sample method). According to the standard requirements, it is necessary to remove the edge yarn to retain the raw edge when preparing the sample, and the effective width of the sample should be 50mm. Due to the special structure of the towel, it is difficult to observe the effective width, special attention should be paid to the removal of the edge yarn. Recommend to use M002A-2 Texitle tensile strength tester.

2. Hair removal rate:

Theoretically, there will be hair shedding in the test process, and the quality after washing should be smaller than the quality before washing. In extreme cases, the quality before washing should be equal to the quality after washing if there is no shedding at all. But from our daily test, some towel products will indeed appear after washing quality is greater than the quality before washing, that is to say, the result of depilation rate is negative, this is because the moisture absorption after washing is better than before washing, together with the towel itself without or only a very small amount of fiber falls off, in this case, depilation rate should be reported by "0".

How to choose a towel?

In daily life, towels are always used everywhere, so everyone's choice of towels, use and maintenance are more casual, in fact, it is this casual, often bring us health problems. Experts suggest buying or using towels to pay attention to the following points:

(1) Buy towels with clear logos from regular stores. Such products usually come from regular manufacturers. When buying in physical stores, you can also buy towels by looking at their appearance, feeling, smell and so on.

(2) A large number of bacteria will remain when the towel is in contact with the human body for a long time, which may cause discomfort to the human skin. It is recommended to replace it regularly according to the frequency of use. Generally, it will be replaced after 3 months of use. After each use, it must be cleaned and put in a ventilated place to dry.

(3) Multi-use of one towel or sharing towels with others will greatly increase the chance of bacterial transmission and may cause cross infection, which should be resolutely avoided.

(3) Microfiber towels are not resistant to high temperature, and will affect the use effect because the fiber structure is damaged, so high-temperature disinfection cannot be used; Rinse with clean water after daily use or add appropriate amount of detergent to wash with clean water. Because of its strong adsorption, when washing or drying, try to avoid cleaning with other easy to lose hair towel, to prevent fine hair or other dirt and affect the use effect.
