EN 388 protective gloves against mechanical risks: standard specifies requirements, test methods, marking and information to be supplied for protective gloves against the mechanical risks of abrasion, blade cut, tear, puncture and, if applicable, impact. This standard is intended to be used in conjunction with EN 420. The test methods developed in this standard may also be applicable to arm protectors.
To help glove factory or testing labs figure out the corresponding test equipment, we list all the EN 388 Gloves test equipment as below.

Martindale wear and abrasion tester, available with up to 9 stations and adaptable to test a wide range of applications - socks, textiles, leather, carpets, coated upholstery, and shirt collars. Standards EN 388 clause 6.1, ASTM D4966, BS-3424, DIN-53863, GB/T 20991, SATRA TM31, ISO 5470-2, GB/T 19089, GB/T 3903.16 EN ISO 12947, EN ISO 20344:6.12 |
H061 Circular Blade Cut Resistance Tester |
Circular blade cut resistance tester is to determine blade cut resistance property for the protective area of safety gloves in accordance with EN 388 (Clause 6.2), excluding the gloves made by very hard materials. Standards EN-388 clause 6.2 ISO-20344 |
H102 TDM Cut Resistance Tester |
TDM Cut resistance tester is used for testing the performance of materials and components in the design of protective clothing. The amount of vertical (normal) force required to cut through the test specimen by cutting the blade over a fixed distance. Standards EN 388 clause 6.3 ISO 13997. |
H001 Universal Testing Machine(Dual Column) |
H001 UTM universal testing machine can be used to do tear resistance for glove. Equipped with tear grips to tear glove sample. Max. Capacity 100N, 200N, 500 N; 1N, 2N, 5KN,10KN, 20KN
Standards EN 388 Clause 6.4 Tear resistance |
H106 Glove Puncture Resistance Tester |
The glove puncture resistance testing machine takes a sample with a diameter greater than 40mm from the glove and installs it in the fixture of the machine. The puncture needle compresses and moves the sample at a speed of 100mm/min until the sample displacement reaches 50mm. Record the force The maximum value, evaluate the puncture resistance performance of its protective gloves; Standards BS EN388-2016 clause 6.5 ISO20344; GB/T17622; AQ6102; GB24541-2009

H101 Impact Protection Tester |
For gloves that are designed, constructed and claimed to provide specific impact attenuation, the materials shall not crack when a 2.5kg load with an impact energy of 5J drops on the tested material- peak transmitted shall also be <7 KN. Adopt high precision piezoelectric ceramic force sensor, high resolution, fast reaction, good repeatability, the machine controlled by computer, all test process is through computer controlled, automatic record impact force, automatic calculate average impact force, testing report also be available. Standards EN 388 clause 6.6, EN 13594
