Mass per unit area
The most common method is to use a circular sampler/sample cutter to circle five circular samples with an area of 100cm2 or square samples with a side length of 10cm, and put them on a balance to weigh its weight.
Finally, it is converted to mass per unit area (g/m2).
The sample is dried in a drying oven(D010A Drying Oven) at 105℃ to a constant weight and then weighed to get the drying mass. The common mass per unit area can be calculated by combining the common moisture regain rate of the fiber.
Mass per unit length
The edges of the fabric should be cut vertically and parallel, and the length of the whole fabric should be at least 0.5m. After weighing, it should be converted to (g/m).
g/m= g/m2×breadth(m)
Individual quality
For the complete finished product, according to customer requirements can weigh the quality of a single piece, such as towels, blankets, sweaters, etc.
Unit conversion
In addition to the square metre gram weight (g/m2), the commonly used unit of jeans is oz/yd2
Ounces/yards = square meters of gram weight ×1/33.91
For example: 10oz/yd2=339.1g/m2
